Commitment to Partnership

Welcome to Jubilee JumpStart! At Jubilee JumpStart we seek to enable children to grow, learn, and delight in their childhood by providing them with a high quality care and education experience. We recognize that you as a parent are your child's first and, in fact, lifelong teacher. You are giving your child a great start in learning and we invite you to join the Jubilee JumpStart program in a partnership to continue this work together.

Jubilee JumpStart will:
  • Provide a high quality early childhood program for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers that emphasizes nurturing relationships with caring and skilled adults.
  • Involve families in discussions of the center's philosophy, goals, and practices and take this feedback into consideration in decision making.
  • Partner with families through a variety of everyday experiences to support their special relationship with their child.
  • Work alongside families to provide experiences that fit each child's unique growth process and address any developmental or other challenges.
  • Provide a community of respect and acceptance that provides love and encouragement to all its children and families.
As a parent, I will:
  • Educate myself about what a high quality early childhood education is and monitor my child's experiences to ensure that he/she is receiving it.
  • Recognize the importance of working to connect my child's experiences at home and at Jubilee JumpStart so that my child has consistency and security.
  • Communicate with my child's caregivers/teachers on a regular basis, sharing relevant information about my child and our family as I deem necessary.
  • Work with teachers to set goals for my child's development and learning.
  • Participate whenever possible in classroom and recommended at-home activities.
  • Meet all requirements set forth by the DC Department of Health in order to maintain child care subsidies (as applicable).
  • Be open to all suggested support and guidance provided by Jubilee JumpStart.
  • Actively participate in the Family Partners Home Visitation Program.
As Primary Caregivers, we will:
  • Communicate and share information about children with their parents/guardians and all appropriate staff.
  • Advocate for children and their parents. Involve families in the classroom in meaningful ways which demonstrate the belief that parents are the principle influence on their child's education and development. Ensure that the program meets the needs of children and their families rather than insisting that the children and families fit the program.
  • Nurture children and create a special bond that ensures that their needs are met. Provide love and care for children in ways that empower children and establish a sense of security and trust.
  • Facilitate learning by ensuring that the center environment works for each child. Care for individual children in ways that maximize their learning potential. Nurture each child's interests and instill in them a lifelong love of learning.
  • Observe, monitor, and evaluate each child's development. Consistently observe each child, taking notice of their individual strengths and interests, capitalizing on everyday "teachable moments." Complete individual child development screenings and individual learning plans and inform parents and program staff.
As Family Partners, we will:
  • Conduct regular home visits to further learning and development in the context of the parent-child relationship.
  • Collaborate regularly with the child's primary caregiver/teacher so that all those involved with the child are given an accurate picture of the child, including their weekly achievements and challenges and their overall progress.
  • Collaborate with any community resources/services deemed necessary for the family such as medical and learning-related assessments and early intervention services.
  • Provide information on child development, helping parents enhance their children's intellectual, physical, and social development and strengthen the parent-child bond.
  • Bridge the learning experiences between home and center using the foundation of Learning Games.
  • Support the family in all aspects of parenting and in other ways deemed necessary by the parents.
  • Provide the family with information on additional community resources that may be needed or of interest.
