Faculty & Staff
Jubilee JumpStart is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care through
the recruitment and hiring of dedicated early childhood education professionals.
All staff members undergo a comprehensive screening, including multiple interviews,
references, and a background check that includes fingerprinting. Each new employee
participates in an orientation that will familiarize them with the policies and
standards of Jubilee JumpStart. Ongoing training and professional development is
required of each employee. Professional development of Jubilee JumpStart employees
is supported by the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis.
Executive Director
The Executive Director provides overall leadership for the center, striving to develop
a program that exceeds the standards of the program, the National Association for
the Education of Young Children, and the D.C. Department of Early Care and Education.
The Director develops strong partnerships with families and creates a center atmosphere
that is supportive of its families and faculty. If you should ever feel that a concern
or issue warrants the Director's attention, you are strongly encouraged to speak
with the director. The Director works in partnership with the Board of Directors
to ensure a strong and supportive foundation for the Jubilee JumpStart program.
Associate Director for Family and Children Services (Center Based)
The Associate Director assists and supports the Executive Director in the overall
operations of center management with primary responsibility for the development
and support for educational programming, curriculum, enrollment, and parent support
and involvement in programs. The Associate Director is a role model for the faculty
and staff and a key source of information for the families. The Associate Director
assumes overall responsibility for the center in the ED's absence. Families are
encouraged to contact the Associate Director immediately whenever they have a questions
or concern.
Associate Director for Family Support (Home Based)
The Associate Director in coordination with the Executive Director, assists in the
design, implementation, and assessment of the family support program, and will act
as lead Family Partner. The Associate Director coordinates the curriculum, Learning
Games and other methods and materials to nurture the relationship between the Jubilee
JumpStart child and her/his parents and other family members, support the family's
capacity to help the child develop in a timely and appropriate way in physical,
social/emotional, cognitive, and linguistic dimensions, and assists families to
obtain needed services from other organizations and individuals.
Operations Manager
The Operations Manager, serving as a member of the Jubilee JumpStart Administrative
Team, supports the Executive Director and Associate Director in ensuring that the
center's operations run smoothly. The Operations Manager is responsible for managing
the center's HR, accounts payable/tuition, payroll, data entry, and center files.

Lead Teachers
Lead teachers are responsible for the oversight and planning of the curriculum for
the classroom to which they are assigned. Lead teachers work a full time schedule,
supervising their classroom team to ensure that the learning environment and classroom
practices are developmentally appropriate for the children in their care and that
practices and policies are correctly implemented. Lead teachers work in close consultation
with the center administrative team in order to implement the standards expected
of Jubilee JumpStart, the D.C. Department of Health, and the National Association
for the Education of Young Children. It is the goal of Jubilee JumpStart for its
Lead Teachers to have a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related
field.
Teachers
To be teacher qualified, an individual must have completed at least 15 credit hours
of college coursework in Early Childhood Education or have a Child Development Associate
(CDA) credential. Teachers serve as primary caregivers within their assigned classroom.
They work closely with the Lead Teacher in the planning and implementation of all
classroom activities. In the absence of the lead teacher, the teacher is responsible
for all aspects of the classroom and the care of each child.
Assistant Teachers
Assistant teachers may serve as primary caregivers within an assigned classroom
or assist throughout the center. These caregivers work under the direct supervision
of the teacher or lead teacher when in any classroom. They implement activities,
assist with creating the learning environment, maintain routines, and work with
children individually or in small groups. Assistant teachers are encouraged to actively
participate and observe in all routines in order to enhance their understanding
of child development and education and further their professional development.
Family Partners
Family Partners work under the supervision of the Associate Director for Family
Support and assist parents and extended family in the care and education of children
enrolled in Jubilee JumpStart and in addressing problems that inhibit their ability
to provide such care and education. Family Partners arrange home visits with families
on a weekly basis to provide educational information on child development, health,
and safety information, to share new Learning Games, and to discuss any concerns
that the parents or family may have regarding their child's developmental progress.
