It was a fun and fabulous Fall In Love with Books!

Updated: Nov 4, 2022

It was an enchanting October in the JJS community, thanks to old and new friends, JJS children, teachers, and families - everyone who participated in Fall In Love with Books. Our board members added new dimensions to this year's tale by appearing in person to share favorite stories with us in our library. Our partners at GlenLine Investment and the Junior League of Washington kept the JumpStar Reader experience going virtually, and our faithful friends at PNC put the period on it. But don't worry, the story was still building. In the middle of it all, our Storybook Parade brought out a host of familiar characters for our neighbors to greet. DW and Olaf were there. There was even a dragon who loves tacos.

Every JJS child received free books for their home libraries, but the real magic was free books from our ever-full Little Free Library for other children in Adams Morgan to add to their collections. A fantastic Fall Literacy Festival that brought families together in the center was the perfect ending for this year's Fall in Love With Books story.

We are grateful to our partners at GlenLine Investments, PNC, and Junior League of Washington and our board members for making our JumpStar Reader experience extra special. We're also thankful to our supporters who donated books and volunteers like Carrie Tipton and Oona Pitter who helped get our library in shape so that our books could be shared in our classrooms, throughout our community, and in our homes.

Thank you to all who helped us enjoy the classics and discover new favorite stories. We look forward to doing it again in the Spring during March Into Reading.
