Why It Matters
High Need
DC's Ward 4 is short over 780 infant and toddler seats, and not all existing seats meet community needs for quality, wraparound supports & accessibility.
Equity in Action
We’re expanding access in a community where 35% of residents live below 300% of the federal poverty line.
Proven Model
82% of current students meet or exceed age expectations in cognitive development.
Cost to Launch: $490,000
This one-time investment will make it possible to open our second center—and sustain it from day one. Funds will be used to:

-
Furnish and equip 6 new classrooms and shared spaces with age-appropriate materials, technology, and signage.
-
Staff and provide training for the 21 new jobs created, including 18 early childhood educators, a Center Director, a Family and Community Engagement Manager, and a Receptionist/Admin Assistant. (Additional JJS staff will support operations across both sites.)
-
Cover 3 months of startup costs, including salaries, supplies, food, and outreach efforts during the licensing, permitting, subsidy/meal program application, and enrollment phases.
