One of our Quetzal (toddler) moms, Yesenia Argueta, was interviewed and featured with little Ilias in a February 21st Washington Post article about parents of children under age five and ineligible for vaccination against covid. She talked about the hardships of single parenting during this time when routines are returning "normal" for the vaccine-eligible population.

On February 16th, our very own Nancy Martinez, the Lead Teacher of the Toucans class (older two-year-olds), was a guest at Mayor Muriel Bowser's Fiscal Year 2023 Fair-Shot Budget Engagement Forum in mid-February. Speaking up on behalf of families with low-incomes Nancy inquired about Mayor Bowser's plans regarding affordable housing. JJS Director Dominique Spencer testifies during COW DC's virtual Education Oversight Forum

Dominique Spencer, our Director of Education Services, testified on March 2nd at the Committee of the Whole (COW) of the District of Columbia's Education Oversight mediated by Councilmember Phil Mendelsohn. Dominique spoke on the importance of the committee's vote to increase early childhood educator compensation. You can view the meeting here; Dominique appears at about 8:17:35.
