Many of you know this year has brought changes to pave the path for the next 14 years at Jubilee JumpStart. We've restructured our leadership team, positioning old and new staff in key positions to strengthen our education program and operations. We are in the process of our NAEYC reaccreditation (every five years), which distinguishes us as one of the best early learning programs in the nation, and we continue to help our teachers with professional development, which has a secondary effect of improving our quality ranking in the District of Columbia. All of these changes are paving the way for greater impact in the city and the early childhood education (ECE) workforce.
At our 2023 Spring Journey Forward Fundraiser last week, we heard from our board chairperson, Kelsey Neilson, how Jubilee JumpStart aims to expand our reach in the weeks, months, and years to come. Here are the highlights of what's on the horizon.
We are part of the development group chosen by the District to develop plots 7, 8 & 9 of the St. Elizabeth’s Campus in the Anacostia neighborhood of southeast Washington, DC.
Discussion will begin this summer regarding the search for a permanent Executive Director.
Our Journey Forward Fundraiser and Cocktail Hour was a moment to reflect on how far we've come, acknowledge those who've helped us get to where we are now, and look ahead to where we are going. Thank you, David Epstein and Elizabeth Green, board member and JJS parent, for opening your home for this event. Thank you to all of the past and present board members, alumni families, and current families who attended and made this event a successful sharing of the JJS mission and story. Thank you, former Executive Director Dee Dee Parker Wright, for bringing us this far over the past twelve years. Thank you, generous donors, partners and friends, those present and those reading about it here. Your faithful support is what propels us forward. Thank you for being part of our journey thus far.
