Our neighbors at The Line Hotel -DC raised funds to send all 48 Jubilee JumpStart children home for the holidays. The Junior League of Washington joined in with books for each child as well, furthering our mission to make at-home reading an everyday practice for children and families. Our Families4Families student partners showed up bearing groceries for our families and spent the Saturday before Christmas as elves leaving no gift unwrapped. And our ever-trusty DC Diaper Bank delivered for the babies (and their mamas) to be stocked for at-home diaper duty over the winter break.
Wanting in on all the tidings of comfort and joy, a host of individual families came through with donations of new and gently used clothing, toys, and household goods for families in need. In fact, a few families of currently enrolled children organized through social media to help completely furnish the new home of a family of eight and to organize a bake sale to present each teacher with a holiday gift valued at $50 per person.
We couldn't have asked for a merrier, brighter outpouring of love and support to carry us out of 2021 and into the new year.
