Foundations for Success in School and Life
Jubilee JumpStart, located in Washington, D.C.’s busy Adams-Morgan neighborhood, provides high-quality early childhood care and education to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers from diverse social and economic backgrounds, with a focus on children and families with the least access.
Our evidence‐based programs address children’s social and emotional well‐being, and we build partnerships between parents, teachers, and the community to ensure children grow, thrive, and succeed in school and life.
Jubilee JumpStart helps build strong language and literacy skills, thinking skills, self-control, and self-confidence and provides an excellent, robust foundation, so children are school-ready and set up for lifelong success.

Jubilee JumpStart partners with public agencies and services to ensure families receive all the support they can. JJS also partners with a wide array of community organizations and initiatives focused on issues that affect children’s health and education as well as families’ stability.

Jubilee JumpStart uses the research-based Creative Curriculum, which assesses children’s progress in four areas--Emotional, Physical, Cognitive, and Language.

Teachers observe and record progress along a developmental continuum in each of these areas and then customize appropriate activities for each child. Our learning environment is dual-language, exposing children to English and Spanish throughout the school day, and half of our teachers are fluent Spanish speakers.

We are proud to be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which requires schools to meet 80% or more of the 10 NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards.

The learning environment created by a teacher is critical to the quality of an early childhood program. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment for our staff as well as our students.

Classrooms exceed standards with two full-time teaching staff--one lead teacher and one associate teacher, who interact, engage, and communicate with individual children during activities and routines.

Teachers receive onsite support from a dedicated Education Coach, including intensive in-class coaching and ongoing training in curriculum development and implementation.

We also encourage teachers to pursue higher education in early childhood development, and provide paid leave and flexible scheduling for staff to attend college-level courses for two hours per week. By 2023, all our lead teachers will have associates degrees.

Family engagement is an essential part of Jubilee JumpStart’s mission, and ensuring our families have the resources and tools they need to support their children’s unique strengths and learning styles is one of our top priorities.

Parents connect closely with teachers in daily interactions, through parent/teacher conferences, and with home visits. They also participate in social events such as a weekly Friday morning Parent Coffee Hour, monthly family activities, and literacy initiatives. We also offer leadership opportunities for parents to learn and grow through planning and decision‐making on our Parent Committee.

Our dedicated Family and Community Engagement Manager responds to families’ needs, supports parents in achieving goals, and facilitates groups where parents can develop relationships and their own parenting skills.

Highly Invested
Program Partners
Partners throughout the community enrich the quality of our program and the experiences of our children, parents, and staff. Some community partnerships directly impact the learning experiences at Jubilee JumpStart through classroom enrichment programs and instructional support. Others support our mission and work with resources and services that help strengthen families.
Public Agency Partnerships
Healthy Tots provides funding and resources to support child care facilities’ ability to serve nutritious meals and to offer high-quality wellness programming.
QIN
DC’s Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership initiative to enhance quality and comprehensive services for children ages birth to 3 and their families with low incomes.
DC’s Quality Rating Improvement System that measures program quality and focuses on continuous quality improvement.
JJS maintains a strong working relationship with the Mount Pleasant branch of DCPL, including library visits by groups of children and monthly classroom and center visits from a children’s librarian.
A mental health consultation service that focuses on improving the overall quality of our program specific to children’s behavior and emotional development and teaching staff’s understanding and response. The Healthy Futures Program also offers child and family- centered consultation service.

DBCR high school students intern in our center. The DBCR student-worker develops work skills and experience and Jubilee JumpStart benefits from their unique presence with children and their support with classroom

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
JJS participates NAEYC's
accreditation process to ensure development and implementation of the highest quality early education program. Our center achieved a 5-year term of accreditation in 2014 and re-accreditation
in 2019.
Platform of Hope
A collective impact initiative, strategic partner and steering committee member. Our families can be referred for a years-long engagement to build social capital and work toward goals that can lead them out of poverty.

Our children attend music and movement enrichment activities at Sitar, we provide referrals to Sitar’s wide range of arts programming, and our teachers receive
